Neighbor's cat stranded out in a snow storm taken in by a kind person, given shelter, safety, and warmth: 'I don't understand my neighbors at all.'

We don't understand people who adopt pets only to forget about them.

We understand that some cats are an outside-inside hybrid type (although it's a known fact that indoor cats live longer and safer lives). But cats are definitely not fitted to brave blizzards or extreme cold. The domestic cat has evolved from the African wildcat - meaning, cats are adapted to hot weather, to deserts, and the harsh climate of the summer. But winters are tough for cats, so leaving a cat out in the cold is borderline cruel. And that's what we don't understand - we're not talking about feral cats, about strays (though they all deserve homes, and that's an understatement) - we're talking about adopted cats. But this cat's family? They just leave him out during a snow storm. Great.

Cats should be cared for, loved, never abandoned. Cats are meant to rule their home kinkdoms with an iron paw (of love, pets, and treats). Cats were not made to be abandoned. It breaks our hearts knowing some cats are adopted only to be forgotten. At least this one cat has a neighboring family that's willing to care for him during this awful weather.

Well, at least seeing this beautiful boy get a yummy treat while the snow storm is raging outside is a sort of relief. It's always good knowing a cat is being well taken care of, instead of forgotten outside while the weather is treacherous. All cats deserve the warmth of a home, especially when the season hasn't given in yet to a more pleasant kind of environment.

While we refrain from using this language, we definitely share the sentiment. A cat should be a permanent resident where he's wanted, loved, and cared for. If this home is where he gets all these boxes checked, then this is the place where he should call home. Not the neighbors' place, who leave him outside while the weather is unkind, and block his way to get back inside.

Unfortunately, allergies are a fixed factor that prevents cats from being adopted. It's a bummer, to say the least. But seeing as this cat really suffers from the winter cold, while his “owners” are indifferent to the situation, it might be a good idea for the mom to take some allergy pills until they find this beautiful boy his forever home. They can foster, only until a suitable family is found.
